Forensic Chemistry
Forensic/Investigative Chemistry is based on the concept that questions can be answered by examining all aspects of a problem or item including chemical make-up of the failed material with comparison to virgin material; scenario of events leading to the problem or failure; physical condition of the failed material; and any other facts pertinent to the investigation.  The information is then combined to provide a picture of the cause and implications.

EXAMPLE QUESTIONS

What is the chemical make-up of the material?
What is this residue on the surfaces of my building?
Why is this metal corroding?
Why did this window fail?
Why did this product cause a fire?
What is this odor and what is the source?
Is the air quality in my building acceptable to manufacture my product?

These questions and others are answerable through Forensic/Investigative Chemistry.

LEGEND's unique mix of laboratory and field personnel provide the range of experience necessary to perform Forensic/Investigative Chemistry including: product deformulation, analysis of failed materials/products, identification of unknown materials, etc.
